METRO DX CLUB MEETING MINUTES February 17, 2006

President Bob Adamitis, K9MDO called the meeting to order at 7:38 PM. The minutes of the last meeting and the Treasurer’s report were given by Jack Nienhaus, W9NJB, the club Sect/Treas. and approved by the membership.

The president spoke about the Winterfest Banquet held on January 20^th and all agreed it had been a great success. There were 23 members and XYLs present and as usual the food at the Old Barn was delicious.

A motion was made by W9NJB that a $50 donation be made to the Peter I DXpedition. It was seconded and approved by the members. K9MDO reported several contacts with club member Bill Beyer, N2WB, who is a team member of the Peter I group.

John, W9ILY, reported that various members will be participated in the ARRL International DX Contest CW and that he is looking for logs for a Club submission. In addition members W9UM, K9MDO and W9ILY took part in the CQ WW 160 Meter Contest WW. On the weekend Feb. 18-19 the ARRL International DX Contest will be held. On Feb. 25-26 the CQ WW 160 Meter SSB Contest takes place. W9ILY will be looking for logs from any member working these contests.

John, W9ILY, had obtained a DVD of planning meetings of the Peter I group and Bob, K9MDO, connected his portable DVD player to the television. There were meetings held in Japan and in Atlanta prior to their departure. The prior planning for this DXpedition was incredible on all the details that went into this trip. All equipment was assembled, tested and disassembled. At one half million dollars this DXpedition is undoubtedly the most expensive one ever made.

Members present were N9LAH, K9CJ, K9MDO, WG9J, W9ILY, KA9CBJ and W9NJB.
