Metro DX Club Meeting Minutes

December 15, 2017

Prior to the start of the meeting, pizza was served to enjoy while it was still warm.

The meeting was called to order by President Jim N9TK, with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag at 7:43pm.

In attendance, besides Jim, were John W9ILY, John K9DRS, Matt K9BBQ, Mike K9LSH, Mel NE9A, Bob K9CJ, Lee WA9LEY, Jerry K9PY, Jerry K9LOT, Mike K9AJ, Susan K9XYL, Mark K9TP, Bob N9ORD. Jim NV9X, Phil N9LAH, Carl K9CS and Christine W9LIZ.

OLD BUSINESS

The MINUTES of the previous meeting in November were approved with the corrected date.

The TREASURERS REPORT was distributed by John, W9ILY indicating an income of $250 from dues renewal and "Split The Pot" . Expenses of $1.19 for postage. The amount of $145.44 is available for donations. Thanks to income from equipment sales, Metro has been able to donate substantial $$ in 2017 to a number of DXpeditions, Foundations, Club Log and others.

WUST had no recent activity.

NEW BUSINESS

DUES are due. $15.00

WINTERFEST Friday, January 19, 2018 organized by WA9LEY. Same price and location as last year. Good turnout so far. Additional reminders will be sent out through the reflector. We have quite a few prizes again this year for the free raffle.

A motion to adjourn was made by N9LAH, seconded by K9TP. The meeting was called to a CLOSE at 19:50.

Further General Discussion

There was mention of the NIDXA requesting our input for their upcoming special event.

Matt K9BBQ generously provided METRO DX coffee cups for members of the club. Those in attendance received theirs at the meeting.

A short six minute Russian video Bouvet from the Akademik Tryoshnikov - The World's most remote island was presented.

A lengthy, informative discussion on preparations and operations on Bouvet was moderated by Jim, N9TK following the movie. Jim, N9TK says that if possible, he may call in during Winterfest while on his journey to Bouvet.
