METRO DX CLUB ANNUAL WINTERFEST BANQUET 2009 - January 16, 2009

In lieu of the regular January meeting, a group of the club’s membership along with their XYLs and YLs met on January 16^th at the Asbury House restaurant on 159^th Street in Tinley Park for the Metro DX Club Annual Winterfest Banquet.  This is a tradition that goes back a number of years with the only change being that in the early days of the club it was held as a Christmas party and is now held following Christmas as a Winterfest Banquet.  In the previous fifteen years or so our party was held at the Old Barn Restaurant in Burbank . With their recent closing another location was found that boded well as a suitable replacement and proved to be an improvement.

The following were in attendance at the banquet: Bob Adamitis K9MDO and his XYL Karen WB9YBL; Dave Alm WG9J and his XYL JoAnn; Bob Berger N9ORD and his XYL Trudy; Jerry Celmer K9PY and his XYL Brenda; Jess Colvin AI9L and his XYL Patti AF9H; John Holmes W9ILY and his XYL Toots; Bob Jacobson K9CJ; Norman “Al” Keck W9YYG and his XYL Diane; Mike McGirr K9AJ and his XYL Sue K9XYL; Jack Nienhaus W9NJB; Dennis Robinson KA9ZZT and his XYL Jan;  Bob Sebonia AK9Y and his YL Eileen; Phil Snyder N9LAH and his XYL Cindy; George Zielinski W9OA and his XYL Maryann.  

We ordered off the menu and enjoyed our choice of a number of various entrees that everyone agreed were delicious.  At least I heard no complaints of the food, the service or of the location.  We had a spacious room with plenty of elbow room at the tables.

For entertainment Dave and JoAnn Alm presented a travelogue video of their trip to Morocco.  The subject matter was not only very interesting but the photography and editing was most professional.  Dave and JoAnn are to be congratulated for making and presenting such an enjoyable video.
