Metro DX Club Meeting Minutes
June
19, 2015
The meeting was called to
order by President Jim Mornar N9TK, with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
In attendance, besides Jim,
were John, W9ILY, Bob K9CJ, John K9DRS, Bob N9ORD, Jerry K9PY, Lee WA9LEY, Mike
K9LSH, Jim NV9X, Bob K9MDO, Mike K9AJ, Matt KA9BBQ, Phil N9LAH, Carl K9CS,
Dennis KA9ZZT, and Jeff KD9APD.
OLD
BUSINESS:
The MINUTES were distributed. A motion was made by WA9LEY and seconded
by N9ORD to accept.
The TREASURERS REPORT was
distributed by John, W9ILY. The amount of $208.80 is available for donations.
Income was from two new members, a WUST award, a WUST endorsement and QSL card
sales from the W9LNQ estate. K9LSH noted an error in the amount available for
donations. A motion to approve the corrected treasurer’s report was made and
seconded.
WUST awards have been issued
to 114 operators including 17 Metro DX members.
CLUB
PICNIC is
scheduled at the residence of Phil, N9LAH on Saturday August 1st.
More information will follow from Mark K9TP, picnic coordinator.

The IARU Contest will occur
July 11 and 12.
DX
to look forward to includes: Palmyra
KH5 in 2016, along with VP8s, VK0 and maybe North Korea P5 in 2016.

A donation was suggested by
John W9ILY to VP8 on which K9AJ will be a member in the amount of $250.00. The
motion was made by K9CS and seconded by KA9ZZT. This was with the proceeds of
the sale of an amplifier from the W9YYG estate.
FIELD
DAY
A discussion for the
weekend’s activities was held. We will operate from the grounds of the former
Tinley Park Mental Hospital. Bob K9CJ is organizing the activities with
participants and the items being provided. Meet Saturday June 27 at 9:00 AM at
the site.
On August 14, Metro members
are invited to the NIDXA meeting in Joliet, sponsored by John W9ILY and Paul
K9NU. Details to follow.
Mention was made as to the
club standings in various CQ events: CQWW,
CQ-WPX, CQ-WW-RTTY and the ARRL 10 meter contests.
A note from Tim Beaumont,
M0URX, the QSL Manager for E30FB Eritrea and his comments on using OQRS was read
by W9ILY.
The most improved ATNO (All
Time New One) operator currently appears to be Matt, KA9BBQ. This is for the
2015 Metro DX Club Challenge to be awarded at the end of this year.
Consider attending the
W9DXCC Convention September 11 and 12th.
Following a motion to
adjourn by KA9ZZT and seconded, the meeting was called to a CLOSE at 20:20.
A short break was followed
by a presentation made by Mike K9AJ on the Tobi Island, Islands on the Air
(OC-296) operation March 11 and 12. The team operated as T88TI, T88GI and T88XX.
They were QRV for 40 hours and made 3707 Q’s.
