DX CLUB MEETING MINUTES

MARCH 20, 2009
The meeting this evening was called to order at
7:35 PM
by President Bob Adamitis,
K9MDO, who then led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Jack Nienhaus, W9NJB, Secretary/Treasurer then read the minutes of the
last meeting and the Treasurer’s report
that were approved by the members present.
Vice President John Holmes, W9ILY, reported on contest activity.
This weekend, the BART RTTY contest is in operation and the CQWPX-SSB
will be held on the weekend of March 28-29.
The club submitted results for the recent ARRL Int’l SSB contest were
not available at the meeting but are posted on the WEB site.
In addition John passed around a certificate from the Oklahoma DX
Assoc. to W9ILY for participation in the 2008 OKQP contest.
Both John and George, W9OA, had participated.
John mentioned this minor award in the hope that more club members will
send him their awards so they can be posted on our WEB page. John also passed
around some QSL cards recently received from the Bureau for contacts made by
W9TY.
H&W:
K9MDO reported that K9RB, Roger had surgery last Tuesday to remove
wires from his chest that had been placed there after his heart surgery.
He is now recovering at home.
New Members: Patrick Skerrett,
W9PDS and Rick Cartell, W9NKV were voted into the
club as members this evening on a motion by Patti Colvin, AF9H, seconded by
Phil Snyder, N9LAH, with the unanimous approval of the members present.
Pat’s occupation is computer programmer and he resides in the
Beverly
area of
Chicago
. Rick’s
occupation is stationery engineer and he resides in the
Mount
Greenwood
area of
Chicago
. We
welcome both of these new Metro DXers.
Field Day: K9CJ, Bob Jacobson,
was again appointed as Field Day chairman by the president and there was a
short discussion of field day. W9NJB
reported that he had been in touch with the owner of the motor home and was
given permission for the club to use it again this year.
Jack also reported that he received a phone call on March 12th
from the
Oak Forest
Hospital
informing him that permission had been
granted for the club to use the hospital grounds again this year.
Jack requested that a confirmation be provided by letter, but as of
this date one has not yet been received. K9CJ will check on the status of our
Field Day antennas with Dennis, KA9ZZT.
Metro Summer Picnic: K9MDO asked
Patti and Jess as to their feelings on using their place for the Annual Summer
Picnic. Patti replied that she
welcomed it and would like it to take place in August.
President K9MDO then appointed Bob, N9ORD as this year’s picnic
chairman. Look’s like all is a
go for this annual event.
Refreshment chairman N9AKR provided refreshments for tonight’s meeting and
Jess, AI9L, volunteered to provide the goodies for next month.
The meeting was adjourned at
8:10 PM

Program Chairman John Holmes, W9ILY, provided three short DVD programs this
evening. E44M
Palestine 2009, World Radio Team Championship (WRTC) and W1AW Today.
Members
