Metro DX Club Meeting
Minutes for Sept. 17th, 2010
The
meeting was called to order by vice president W9ILY due to our President
K9MDO’s absence. We welcomed two visitors to the meeting: W9HW, Dave and N9XR,
Jerry.
W9ILY
reported on several activities:
The Metro
picnic was held at AF9H's QTH on August 21. A total of 17 members and guests had
a great time.
Bill,
N2WB, had his photo published in the August “CQ” (page 92) doing tower work.
In the
CQWW DX CW, the following members reported scores: W9OA, W9ILY, NV9X, N9LAH,
WB9Z, W9PDS, N9WK, K9CJ and KM9M. Great activity!
He also
noted that CQ magazine has begun listing those entrants who received a “red
card” or a “yellow card” for violation of the rules. Four stations were
noted who had "unverifiable contacts” and/or “unclaimed assistance”.
It is most important to be sure your entry category is correct.
The Metro
DX club came in 6th in overall scoring for all ARRL DX International club
competition entries for 2009 with over 1.2 million points.
He also
mentioned upcoming contests.
W9ILY has
resumed WEB page updates as Pat, W9PDS, has both business and family activities
that are fully occupying his time. Any corrections or updates to the WEB page
should be sent to John (w9ily@arrl.net).
K9BWQ
reported that ST0 (
Southern Sudan
) may be coming back as a new country. Also,
starting Oct. 10th, 4 new countries will start in the
Caribbean
, but we will lose 2 countries.

R1MV (MV Island) due a new lease agreement between
Finland
and
Russia
. He also gave a brief explanation
on how reverse beacon networks and CW skimmer work.
VP8O, the
Dxpedition to
South Orkney
in January, will include Metro member WB9Z.
There was
a split the pot raffle and K9PY was the lucky winner.
