Metro DX Club Meeting Minutes
September 21, 2018
The meeting was called to order by President Jim N9TK, with the Pledge of
Allegiance to the Flag.
In attendance, besides Jim were Jerry K9PMV, Jerry K9PY, Matt K9BBQ, Bob
N9ORD, Ron KD9QFP, John K9DRS, Mel NE9A, John W9ILY,Bob K9CJ, Lee WA9LEY.
OLD BUSINESS
The MINUTES of the previous meeting were approved.
The TREASURERS REPORT was distributed by John W9ILY and it was approved and
seconded. Our income from several sources totaled $70. Our expenses of $24.11
was for picnic food. Jerry K9PY brought hamburgers for the picnic from leftover
FD funds.
WUST Two new certificates were awarded, W4DAW and JA7CVL. There were 3 other
WUST inquiries.
CONTESTS Reported by W9ILY Many members have participated in a number of
contests like CQWW, NAQP and many state QSO parties. It was reported that many
contest log submission dates have shortened to 7 days. Make sure to check
contest rules. The California QSO Party and Illinois QP coming up soon. CQWW
RTTY will be running 9/29 and 9/30.
LOCAL REPEATER NC9T 442.025 tone is 100hz up 5 mhz. Many members hang out
there and make DX call ins.
NEW BUSINESS
Outbound QSL Service Jerry K9PY, is forwarding member's QSL's to the ARRL.

Metro Picnic Thanks again to Jerry WB9Z and Val NV9L for hosting the Metro
picnic this year. A good time was had by all. Also, thanks to Mark K9TP for
manning the grill.
DUES POLICY Our new proposed dues policy is that members joining after 7/1,
dues will cover the balance of the current year and the next year. A motion was
made and approved to adopt this new policy.
W9C Special Event 10/15-10/21 Celebrating the Illinois Bi-Centennial. All
members are encouraged to operate. E-Mail John W9ILY who will send a link to the
on line sign up sheet. The event details will be in Oct QST. Matt K9BBQ is
designing our QSL/certificate again this year. Many members seem to be
interested in operating this event from home. Be sure to E-Mail W9ILY to reserve
your time slots. Jim N9TK offered his shack for our group to use for a W9C
operation. Stay tuned for details.
W9DXCC Many members attended. A couple of members won door prizes. Many
interesting seminars and programs.
METRO BADGES Several members are interested in getting a Metro DX Club badge.
John W9ILY will be placing the order. Contact him if interested. An announcement
will be made on the reflector.
DX ON THE BANDS St. Helena, Mayotte and Afghanistan are among the DX worked
by members over the last few days. Talked about checking the NG3K website for
upcoming DXpeditions.
PJ2Y A PJ2Y QSL was passed around to look at. This call was the Dave Kalter
Youth Foundation operation from July. Our club made a donation to them.
The meeting was adjourned for refreshments followed by our program.
Program John K9DRS gave an interesting and informative presentation of his
June trip to Germany and surrounding areas. He presented lots of pictures of the
interesting sites he visited. One of his stops was the ham get together in
Friedrichshafen. This is the largest of its kind in Europe.
